Manufactured stone benchtops have become very popular due to the consistency of the surface appearance, strength and durability when compared to natural stones such as granite and marble. We provide stone tops from high quality brands such as Caesarstone, Quantum Quartz or Smartstone, which are basically reconstituted 95% crushed quartz and 5% resin.
These can provide greater levels of heat, stain, scratch and chip resistance when compared with natural finishes. The colouring of the mixture is what differentiates the different brands. Pricing is generally similar as most of the cost is in the labour to polish and cut the edges, as well as installation.
The stone is 20mm thick and can be installed with edges thickened up to 100mm, splashbacks up to 600mm and waterfall ends to give clean lines and a modern, sophisticated look to any kitchen.
Edge profiles can be bullnose or 90 degree rolled edges, making an attractive feature in any stylish kitchen. Engineered stone benchtops require minimal maintenance and any scratches occurring throughout the life of the kitchen can be repaired with a resin filler or polished out with a buffing compound and a polishing wheel.
