Add warmth and a special look to your kitchen with a solid timber benchtop.
Solid timber benchtops are generally slightly cheaper than stone but provide a fantastic feature for a breakfast bar or servery in a Traditional or French Provincial kitchen. The top is made from laminated strips of timber and comes in 30 mm or 36mm thickness.
Timber benchtops are available in around 15 species of timber – the more exotic timbers are more expensive. The tops are made to measure, sanded and coated in a polyurethane satin finish, giving a glass-like finish to the timber.
Timber benchtops require maintenance about every two years with a light sand and a new coat of polyurethane. High use areas may require a more regular maintenance. It is not advisable to use a timber top around a sink as the edge that is cut cross grain around the sink can absorb water, leading to cracking.
Timber benchtops add a warmth and feeling to a kitchen that few other tops can do.
